The Bachelor of Arts in Economics is a program offered in the Lingayen Campus of Pangasinan State University. This particular program is designed to provide students with an educational background and experience which reflects the setting in the life of the economists in business enterprises and government agencies. The program is grounded on the theoretical as well as applied economics which are intended to sharpen the student’s analysis and understanding of the complexities of today’s economy. The students are exposed to various tools, methodologies, theories and orientations that will assist them in pursuing their careers in the field of economics.

Economics is the scientific study of how people allocate and use scarce resources. With new developments in theory and methodology, the emergence of challenging policy questions, economics continues to be relevant. Given the technical nature of the discipline, the primary aim of economics education is to raise the technical competencies of learners, develop their analytical and critical thinking skills, and cultivate a habit of lifelong learning.

A. General objective
The BA Economics program is designed to equip students with knowledge in economic theory and its applications and with essential skills for undertaking economic analysis. Intended to provide students with a more liberal education, the BA program requires fewer major (Economics) courses but more liberal arts subjects such as those in the humanities, other social sciences, and a foreign language. The BA curriculum is more flexible, giving students leeway to customizing the program of study.
B. The specific objectives are as follows:

- To ensure that the BA Economics curriculum is in accordance to the prescribed standards set forth in CHED Memorandum Order No. 32 Series of 2017.
- To deliver and provide the students relevant, comprehensive and updated learning experiences and opportunities reflective of the latest developments in the BA Economics program.
- To provide a holistic and participative instructional activities and relevant on-the-job training to ensure the attainment of course objectives and the acquisition of appropriate competencies.
- To develop and provide quality and student-centered instructional materials/devices that will re-enforce and sustain the mastery of theories and concepts of the prescribed courses.
- To conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of faculty performance to sustain the delivery of quality education.
- To develop competent students through the provision of scholarships and other incentives
