CHRISTIAN LITO CAACBAY and MARINEL JOYCE ARIAS, Hospitality Management students, hailed as winners in the recently concluded Tourism Educators and Movers of the (TEAM) Philippines National Skills Virtual Competition last April 10, 2021.
Joined by other top-notch Higher Education Institutions, the Pangasinan State University Lingayen Campus bets did not fail to show their exemplary talent and performance in Tourism and Hospitality, taking the bronze in the Mix and Stule Category and silver in Food Vlogging.
Anchored by the theme, โMICE Digitalization: Embracing Challenges and Opportunitiesโ, the competition was aired via Zoom platform in response to the new normal setup of skills competition.
The Team Philippines is an organization which aims to provide the necessary assistance, training and service to the Higher Education Institutions offering tourism and hospitality management program for the growth and career development of the faculty and students.
Moreover, the campus was able to qualify as Top 20 contender in Tour Package, Airline Safety and Demonstration, Tour Guiding and Digital MICE Planning.
Participants for the said categories were Je-ann de Vera and Cristone Ramos for Tour Package; Danah Karenina Saringan and Rizwan Ali Syed for Airline Safety and Demonstration; Starlyn Flores and Ma. Frenica dela Cruz for Tour Guiding; and Mary Joy Untaran, Jennifer Perez, Rosella Reyes, April Rose Campos and Jobert Calado for Digital MICE Planning.
For past year, the college has been notable for reaping awards and recognitions from various competitions which include Over-all Presidential Award and Over-all Culinary Skills Cup Winner in the COHREP National Competition; Champion in the Goldilocks Cake Decorating Challenge; Champion in the Uong-Balat Regional Fest, among others.
Said competitions were a great lift for Hospitality Management program, especially that it is now set to be considered as one of the flagship programs of the campus. Recently, a lot of projects and activities for BSHM program were lined up which include improvement of Cold and Hot Kitchen Laboratories, Rehabilitation of HRMTC Building, and the construction of the 5-storey Golden Lion Hotel to intensify the program in preparation to future local and international accreditations.
