IN ORDER TO ELEVATE THE STANDARDS of Social Work Program implementation congruence towards studentโs future career as a registered social worker, Professional Regulatory Commission โ Professional Regulatory Board (PRC – PRB) for Social Workers conducted a Virtual Ocular Inspection and Monitoring to the Pangasinan State University โ Lingayen Campus for the program of Bachelor of Science in Social Work of the College of Arts, Sciences and Letters (CASL) held at Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall, March 29.
Said conference is necessary and is based on a legal mandate of the PRC namely PRC Resolution No. 1471 series of 2021.
Hon. Lorna C. Gabad, PRC-PRB for Social Workers Chairman together with the members of the board, Hon. Rosette G. Palma, PRC-PRB for Social Workers member and Mr. King John O. Milo, Commission Representative graced the said online conference and was joined by Dr. Randy Joy M. Ventayen, Campus Executive Director of PSU-LC, Mr. Jufri Jan Louis M. Narvas, Dean, College of Arts, Sciences & Letters Campus Division Supervisor, Coordinators of Academic and Student Affairs, and Mr. Jayson Molina, Department Chair, Social Work.
Moreover, said ocular inspection and monitoring activity aimed to determine the compliance of educational institutions and establishments, including the professionals and employees/staffs employed therein, with the requirements of RA 8981 and its implementing rules and regulations, the applicable professional regulatory law and other policies/standards relevant to the practice of the profession.
In addition, this will be a regulatory tool to enforce and implement the laws of the various professions and will serve as basis for the application of corrective and/or preventive actions and imposition of sanctions as well as the enhancement of the standards of professional practice in the country.
As a result, Hon. Palma gave her warmest congratulations to the social work department wherein there is NO SIGNIFICANT DEFICIENCIES OR VIOLATION OBSERVED. Observations during the said activity are as follows: Supportive University Administration in terms of Faculty development, enhanced facilities, library holdings, and strong student support particularly in the preparation of the Board Licensure Examination; Qualified Department Chair and Faculty line up; Updated Syllabi based on CHED CMO No. 39-2017; Research and Extension works are strong and in place; Open for improvements, enhancements, and changes in overall Social Work programs; Address difficulty in procuring Social Work books by joining book fairs. Upgrading Faculty rank and qualifications to sustain retention by or through Faculty exchange programs, scholarship grants, and other local and international linkages; Need further training on teaching Social Work subjects including corresponding contents and Strengthen student retention policy. /macs
