The Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Pangasinan State University Lingayen Campus has launched a donation drive to aid communities affected by the typhoon Ulysses that battered the Luzon regions last week.
Hon. Je-ann de Vera, President of SSC and Student Regent, said that the project is the organization’s simple way to lend a helping hand to the people distressed in Marikina and Cagayan province.
“This call for donations initiated by the SSC in partnership with Federated Student Government is a response to help our brothers and sisters who are in need of immediate help which we considered as a call of duty,” Hon. de Vera added.
She said that the organization is urging Pangasinense’s support for the campaign to raise funds and in-kind donations for relief efforts targeting up to 250 families or 1,200 individuals in the said typhoon-hit provinces.
From the start of the campaign last November 14 (Saturday) 2020, the SSC has already collected boxes of used clothes, various canned goods, rice, noodles, bottled waters, face masks and shields, among others from students, faculty members and other development partners of the organization.
Moreover, the PSU Medical and Dental Unit donated boxes of medicine for flu and other respiratory diseases to assure the health of the typhoon victims as we are also facing the current pandemic brought about by the COVID-19.
As of writing, the SSC has accumulated a total of Php15,323.35 as fund donation.
“We send our heartfelt gratitude to all our development partners who are always supportive to SSC’s projects like this. And to all the typhoon victims, we stand with you in fervent prayer during these difficult times,” Hon. de Vera said. The organization scheduled the distribution the goods on November 21(Saturday) at Malanday, Marikina as project’s debut.
