Last July 4, 2024, the Region 1 Textile Stakeholders Innovation Dialogue took place at the Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City, Ilocos Norte. The dialogue aimed to unite textile stakeholders from the region with the objectives of exploring partnership opportunities, exchanging best practices, identifying immediate collaboration chances, and promoting community involvement. The primary objective was to stimulate the growth and innovation of the textile industry in Region I.

The dialogue provided a platform for DOST-PTRI to present its newest technologies and to gather input from the participants regarding their applicability and potential contributions to industry advancement. The dynamic exchange of thoughts and ideas not only highlighted the transformative potential of textiles but also underscored the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in shaping the future of this rapidly evolving field.

The following institutions participated the said event: DOST – Philippine Textile Resarch Institute DOST – Region 1 Local Government Unit HEED Foundation Inc. Timpuyog Dagiti Mannalon Ti Casiligan, Inc., Mariano Marcos State University, and Pangasinan State University Lingayen Campus.

Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, Campus Executive Director of PSU Lingayen and Project Leader, expressed his gratitude to the DOST-PTRI for tapping the campus to become an innovation hub of bamboo textile fiber. Dr. Caren Ventayen, the Coordinator for International Linkages of PSU LC as well as the Project Co-Leader discussed the different initiatives of the campus to ensure the success of the project particularly the partnership with the local government unit of Lingayen.

Exciting times ahead for the future of textiles in Region 1!
