The inaugural event of the Association of PSU Social Work Alumni of PSU Lingayen Campus was held last July 5, 2024, at ASEANA Hall, PSU Golden Lion Hotel. With the theme, “Social Workers and Criminal Justice: Forging Alliances and Collaborations Among the Pillars of the Justice System”. This historic event marks a significant milestone in our journey to foster professional growth and community among social workers, offering an in-depth exploration of safeguarding children’s rights, key procedures in juvenile justice for social workers, and implementing restorative justice in youth rehabilitation. Participants who joined earned continuous professional development (CPD) points.

The success of the event was attributed to the collaboration and solidarity of the Association Officers headed by Kim Jhester U. Aquino, the Association President, Richela Jenelle R. Chua – Internal Secretary, April Dee A. Catabay – External Secretary, Mary Lovely A. Dela Cruz – Auditor, Joseph C. Barrera – Alumni Coordinator and Social Work Department Chairperson, Catherine Anne P. Atutubo – Treasurer and Social Work Faculty Member, and Donabel C. Sabas – Social Work Faculty Member.

The Humanitarian Legal Assistance Foundation Inc. (HLAF) Lecturers, Atty. Juanito S. Vinluan, Jr. – Jail Decongestion Program Officer, Atty. Maria Luisa S. Villarin – Deputy Executive Director, and Atty. Rommel Alim Abitria – Strategic Advisor, made significant contributions as they share their expertise and dedication with invaluable knowledge.

PSU Lingayen, headed by Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, Campus Executive Director, and Dr. Elbert M. Galas, University President, expresses gratitude for such opportunities that are incredibly valuable in the community. This event signifies the beginning of continuous professional development (CPD) training opportunities for alumni social workers, bringing resources closer to our community than ever before.
