Blazing the trail to the academic world of education, PSUnian faculty researchers pierced through the reputed Scopus database. PSU faculty-researchers Caren Casama Orlanda-Ventayen and Narciso Ambrocio Martin Jr. were among other authors across the globe whose journals withstood and qualified the Elsevier’s Scopus indexed TESOL International Journal Volume 16 Issue 4.4 2021.
Ventayen’s “Language Proficiency and Plagiarism Practices among Graduate Students” earmarked “…to determine the Language proficiency and Plagiarism Practices of Graduate Students under Education Program and NonEducation Program and be able to correlate the language proficiency and plagiarism practices.”
On the other hand, Martin’s “Metacognition in The Senior High School in one National High School in The Philippines” set out “…to understand the prevailing conditions of metacognition and its implication in Basic Education and to initiate possible “insertion” to achieve successful learning.”
As clear manifestation of both studies’ academic rigor, Scopus accorded the two a Quartile 1 (Q1) classification which conveyed ranking by the top 25% of journals in the field.
These quartiles rank the journals from highest to lowest based on their impact factor or impact index. There are four quartiles: Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. Q1 is occupied by the top 25% of journals in the list; Q2 is occupied by journals in the 25 to 50% group; Q3 is occupied by journals in the 50 to 75% group and Q4 is occupied by journals in the 75 to 100% group.
To recall, in 2018, Dr.Philip G. Queroda (Director, ETEEAP Office) with his journal “Theme Writing Skills of Pangasinan State University (PSU) Education Students” also made it through Volume 13 Issue 3 2018 of the same indexing journal.
Ventayen and Martin’s breakthrough hallmarks another achievement unlocked for the PSU academic and research community, taking active and advanced steps in bolstering the Institution’s quality research performance.
Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings around the world in the fields of Science, technology, Medicine, Social Sciences, and Arts and Humanities.
